The problem

A fluent summary with no sourcesis a summary you check from scratch.

A long piece of writing rests on notes, interviews and documents gathered over months. Assistants are good at drafting from them, but a sentence with no source is a sentence you have to check yourself.

An example (fictional)

Priya asks an assistant to summarise what her interviews said about remote onboarding. The summary reads well, but two quotes are blended from different people and one figure comes from nowhere she can find.

The summary sounded right. Nothing in it could be traced.

Bring your notes in

Connect Obsidian, Notion, OneNote, Google Drive or Dropbox. Obsidian also has its own plugin.

Search by words and by meaning

Exact and meaning search are merged by rank, so a quote and its paraphrase both turn up, each with its citation.

Search & recall

Step 3

Settle what disagrees

When two notes disagree, you are asked which one stands, and the other stops coming back in answers.

Ask it like a colleague

From any connected assistant. Every answer comes back cited.

  • What did my interviews say about this topic?
  • Where did this figure come from?
  • Which of my sources disagree with each other?
  • What have I already written about this?

Starts with the tools you have

Sources this usually begins with. Connect only what belongs in the workspace.

When you may not need MeshTale

If your research fits in one notebook and you rarely draft with an assistant, the search in that notebook may be enough.

Questions

Yes. Obsidian is a connector, and there is also an Obsidian plugin.

Yes. Personal connections are visible only to you, even if you share a workspace with an editor or co-author.

Citations point to the memories that were actually recalled for that answer, so you can open the note and check the wording yourself.
