Cookie Policy
Short, because this website does very little in your browser.
Draft — awaiting legal review

What a cookie is
A small file a website asks your browser to keep. Some are needed for a site to work at all; others exist to measure behavior or serve advertising.
What this website uses
Strictly necessary
Cookies required for the site to function — remembering your cookie choice, and keeping you signed in if you move into the application. These cannot be turned off without breaking things, and they are not used to build a profile of you.
Analytics
If you agree, we set analytics cookies to understand which pages people read and where they give up. We use this to fix the site, not to identify you. If you decline, they are not set and no analytics data is collected.
Advertising
If you agree, we use advertising cookies so we can show our own ads to people who have visited this site, and measure whether those ads worked. This is commonly called retargeting. The providers we use for this are Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, and LinkedIn.
These are used to advertise MeshTale. We do not sell your information, and we do not let those providers use it to advertise anyone else’s products to you.
These cookies are never used on anything you put into the product. Content you upload or connect is never used for advertising, by us or by anyone else — that promise is in our privacy policy and it is not changing.
Where you are changes what we do
If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, we set nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies until you say yes. Nothing loads in the background while you decide.
Everywhere else, analytics and advertising cookies are on by default and you can turn them off at any time from the link in the footer. We also honour the Global Privacy Control signal if your browser sends one, and treat it as turning both off.
Turning advertising off elsewhere
As well as our own control, you can opt out directly with the providers: Meta through its ad preferences, Google through its ads settings, and LinkedIn through its advertising preferences. Your browser’s settings and any tracking-prevention feature it offers will also block them.
What we actually set, and for how long
| Name | Purpose | Category | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
meshtale.consent | Remembers your choice on this banner so we stop asking | Strictly necessary | Until you clear it |
| Session cookies (application) | Keeps you signed in at app.meshtale.com | Strictly necessary | Session, or up to 30 days if you stay signed in |
| Analytics | Counts page views so we can see which pages work | Analytics | Up to 13 months |
| Meta, Google and LinkedIn advertising tags | Lets us show our own ads to people who visited, and measure whether those ads worked | Advertising | Up to 13 months (Meta and Google), up to 6 months (LinkedIn) |
Your consent choice is stored in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie, so declining does not itself set a tracking cookie. Analytics is not yet switched on; when it is, this table will name the specific cookies before it goes live.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time from the link in the footer. You can also clear cookies through your browser settings, which will make us ask again on your next visit.
Third parties
We display product logos supplied by a third-party logo service. Logos are requested by domain name only — no information about you is sent, and that service sets no cookies on this site. Our subprocessors page lists everyone involved in running MeshTale.
The application is separate
The signed-in application at app.meshtale.com uses its own session cookies, described in the privacy policy. Those are strictly necessary — without them you cannot stay signed in.
